Kerry Kennedy, who used to be married to current New York governor, Andrew Cuomo, was arrested for DWI. She did submit to breathalyzer, blood, and urine tests for drugs, but she apprently tested negative.
So she would be in the clear, right? Not so fast.
Ms. Kennedy may have had her abilities impaired by the drugs, specifically Ambien. According to the NY Post, “Kennedy — who was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs — told cops she had taken the powerful sleeping drug Ambien before getting behind the wheel that morning, sources said.”
Typical drug tests only test for certain types of drugs, and Ambien is not one of those typically tested, but driving under the influence of Ambien (Zolpidem) is still a criminal offense. The blood and urine samples may still be retested to look for it and other drugs.
